Harry Potter groupies in the readership---or in Team Grondul---may be interested to know that that seventh and final* volume in the series will hit bookstore shelves on July 21.
* I can't help but wonder, given the enormous profit the Potter books, movies, and merchandise have generated for author J. K. Rowling and others, if the authoress will eventually be persuaded to pen prequel or spin-off stories.

I still say that Rowling needs to kill of Harry in some tragic and noble way at the end of the book, partly because it makes dramatic sense given how strongly she's foreshadowed it for the last couple of books, and partly to prevent any true sequels from ever being written.
ReplyDeleteWell, maybe that's hoping too much. Where there's money to be made, someone will find a way to write a book about Ron and Hermione, or about Snape, or about the mismatched crime-solving team of Fawkes the Phoenix and Madame Rosmerta. Hell, there are Star Wars books written about Darth Vader's glove. Seriously. His glove. Franchises this profitable won't be stopped by anything as trivial as the non-participation of the original author or the deaths of all the main characters.
