Here's another in the long line of cars-from-the-interweb-that-I-really-really-need:
Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM will debut its X-Bow at the Geneva Motor Show in about a month. The X-Bow is an extremely minimalist, motorbike-inspired sports car. It has no roof or doors and only a hint of a windscreen.* The car will be powered by a 2-liter, turbo-charged, direct-fuel-injected engine from Audi/Volkswagen and should weigh around 700 kg (1540-ish pounds).** Since I am both a minimalist and a proponent of high power-to-weight ratios, and since the KTM incorporates a way-cool rocker-based suspension, this little vehicle may unseat the previous ultimate Michaelmobile, the Lotus Exige. Of course, I doubt this thing would meet American safety standards, but a man can dream, can't he?
PS: Shhh. Don't tell Alison. She thinks my next car will be something practical, like a Toyota Matrix. As if!
* Thus, it's quite similar in size and style to the Ariel Atom, but it's designed to be road legal, at least in Europe.
** Because of the Audi connection, there's even a rumor that the VW Group will build an Audi-branded incarnation.
